FAQ
Questions operations leaders ask before they call.
Straight answers about what RoboShift is, how we work with AI robotics, and what we will never do.
Is RoboShift a robot store, a 'lights-out factory' guarantee, or a 'shift your life' brand?
No. RoboShift is an AI robotics adoption and automation advisory for discrete manufacturers, food processors, logistics operators and mid-market plants. We help leadership plan, govern and enable responsible automation with skilled staff accountable at every step. We are not a hardware retailer, we do not operate factories on behalf of clients, we do not sell self-serve robot kits to consumers, and we do not promise personal life transformation. "Shift" refers to operational adoption change — not lifestyle coaching.
What services does RoboShift actually provide?
Six integrated disciplines: feasibility and adoption strategy; safety, compliance and risk framing; vendor-neutral evaluation; integration and commissioning guidance; operator and maintenance enablement; and stewardship retainers. See our Services page for detail.
Do you install robots or perform electrical work?
No. Physical installation, electrical contracting and formal safety certification remain with integrators and certified partners you select. We advise on scope, acceptance criteria, documentation and change management — we do not impersonate trades credentials we do not hold.
How does AI fit into your advisory work?
We use AI internally to draft workshop outlines, evaluation matrices and maintenance runbook templates — always reviewed by qualified staff before delivery to clients. We teach clients similar workflows with mandatory human approval for production-impacting outputs. AI can be inaccurate; operator and engineering judgment is the control mechanism.
What does a feasibility review cost?
Half-day reviews typically start from C$4,800; full-day sessions from C$8,900 — plus travel when on-site outside Kitchener-Waterloo. The review produces a prioritized action map, not a binding multi-year contract. Formal project estimates follow discovery.
What do larger engagements cost?
Scoped projects and retainers vary by plant complexity, union environment, number of lines and travel. Stewardship retainers start from C$3,200/month. We provide written quotes after a structured discovery call — never opaque "contact us for pricing" without context.
Are you vendor-neutral?
Yes. We do not resell robots, accept integrator commissions or maintain preferred-vendor lists tied to compensation. If we have a prior relationship with a supplier under discussion, we disclose it in writing.
Can you guarantee throughput gains or ROI?
No. We build scenario models with explicit assumptions — labour rates, uptime, scrap, changeover time — and label them as illustrative. Past client outcomes described on our Work page are not forecasts for your facility.
How do you handle safety and compliance?
We frame hazards against CSA and provincial OHSA expectations, integrate lockout/tagout thinking early, and refuse guidance that bypasses interlocks or runs undocumented production modes. Formal risk assessment sign-off stays with certified assessors you appoint where required.
Do you work outside Ontario?
Yes. We are based in Kitchener-Waterloo and work nationally. Remote feasibility sessions are common; on-site line walks are scheduled when physical access is essential. Travel is quoted transparently.
How is personal and operational data protected?
We handle personal information under PIPEDA. Operational data shared during engagements is used only to deliver advisory services, stored in Canada where practicable, and covered by mutual confidentiality terms in our client agreements. See our Privacy Policy.
